Farmhouse. Late C18 or early C19. Rubble, some remnants of limewash in parts,
slate roof. A large house with a symmetrical south front, under hipped roof,
but with a further bay at the west end in part under continuation of hipped
roof swept down. Main front, now away from normal approach, 2 storeys with
cellar, 1 + 3 windows; at ground floor, 3 tripartite 4:12:4-pane sashes, first
floor, 3 tripartite sashes, and central 16-pane sash above gabled porch and
panelled door. The end bay to left is set back slightly to emphasise the
symmetry of the remainder west and plain, with one shuttered opening at eaves.
The back, now the approach facade, has a scatter of windows; those to the right
bay, at the sweep-down, at lower level than remainder. At ground floor a
3-light horizontal bar casement set behind wood mullion, then, set low, a broad
C19 plank door, with half of a 16-pane sash to right. Beyond this a 3-light
casement to a brick segmental arch and a set of stone quoins, a further wide
C19 plank door, and a 3-light casement. At first floor are two 3-light and
a small 2-light, with 3-light, far right. Above the first door is a tall narrow
2-light stair window; to the right of this a small eaves stack, and a small
eaves stack to right return and which also has larger cropped stack near the
ridge. The left return has a half-hip with central eaves brick stack, and a
cellar entrance to brick arch but large quoins, below 3-light and 2-light case-
ments. Interior not inspected, likely to retain original fittings.
