House. Circa 1500, much altered in C18 and C19. Timber framed, plastered,
roofed with handmade red clay tiles. Half-H plan facing S, with one internal
stack in central range, and one internal stack in right crosswing and one stack
to the rear of it. Large Victorian extension to left. 2 storeys with attics.
On each floor, 2 tripartite sashes of 2-4-2 lights and 2 sashes of 4 lights, all
late C19, symmetrically arranged. Central 6-panel flush door, top panels
glazed, in C19 portico. Both crosswings were originally jettied to the front,
now underbuilt. Both crosswing roofs were originally gabled to the front, now
hipped. The interior has been extensively remodelled in the C18 and C19, most
beams boxed in and all surfaces plastered. Early C19 marble fireplaces and C19
plaster covings. Moated site. RCHM 6.
