Haybarn. Early C20 and probably by Ernest Newton for Richard Biddulph Martin.
Coursed limestone rubble with some weatherboarding and half-hipped plain tiled
roof. Rectangular two-bay plan with raking buttresses at south-west corner.
Gable ends are weatherboarded with main entrance at north end. Interior: roof
has two intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts. The building was
designed to service the adjacent stable block (qv). This haybarn and the stable
block have been listed as a rare example of the approach of an Arts and Crafts
architect to the problem of designing agricultural buildings. Included for group
value.
