5/135 Brown House Farmhouse
and attached barn
II
House, probably later C18, and barn, probably C17. Squared rubble, stone slate
roof. House, at left, is of two storeys and two bays with recessed square
mullion windows of three lights gabled porch. Two stacks. Attached, without
any obvious break in masonry, is a long barn with four dressed doorways
with slightly chamfered heads. Chamfered breathers. King post and angle
strut roof. Three breathers are still visible in the party wall, which
suggests the barn was (unusually) freestanding.
