Formerly Ashfield House, now social club. Early C19. Stuccoed, slate roof.
3 storeys, 5 bays. Ground floor of banded rustication has central semi-circular
Tuscan porch consisting of 4 columns (the outer 2 engaged) with dentilled cornice;
C20 doors with narrow rectangular flanking lights. 4 ground floor windows have
keystones and voussoirs and sashes. Upper floors have C20 casements. Dentilled
cornice and gable end ridge stacks. 2 storey 1 bay recessed wings to left and right
are probably slightly later than the house. Each has projecting quoins and one
window to each floor. House built for the Settle banker William Birbeck (1722-1838):
