right rasied circa 1980 and further window inserted. Main doorway slightly off
centre to right; 2 windows to left and 1 to right. Doorway and small window to
outshut and doorway and wide window to converted part of barn. Mostly early C20
casements and late C20 doors. Further doorway central to original barn length; old
small, oak window with internal shutter left and large 2 light shuttered opening
with oak lintel to right. 2-light window with shutters over door and slightly to
right.
Interior of original house has 3-bay smoke blackened roof structure of 2 pairs of
jointed crucks rising from ground floor level and with one cambered morticed collar
surviving and wide threaded purlins. Similar jointed cruck structure with original
purlins and rafters in part of barn but no smoke blackening. Oak stud partition to
left of cross passage, in room above and to apex of roof space. Lime wash over
smoke blackening below collar level to left roof space. Chamfered and stopped oak
axial beam and oak joists originally with plaster ceiling in left room and internal
oak winder stair to left of partly blocked fireplace. Oak winder stair recessed
to right. Rounded and tapered chimney breast at top of stairs. 2 studs nearest to
fireplace each have 18 inclined holes with pegs. Original thick end walls with wide
opening cut C20 from left room to outshut and pierced by doorway to room converted
from barn at lower level, right. This room has chamfered cross beam and joist not
as old as floors inserted in house. Barn has blocked doorway opposite large front
opening.
Raised pavement with rubble wall and low parapet along front of house. Octagonal
