Description

TL 81 SE GREAT BRAXTED OFF TIPTREE ROAD
Bung Row

4/87 Village Pump

GV II

Pump. Early C19. Enclosed in a white painted boarded casing. Down curved iron
handle with ball finial. Central moulded metal panel with flower motifs to
right and left of the lead spout and flowing moulding over. Iron half band with
central bucket hook supports the spout. An unusual pump and similar to that in
stable courtyard of Braxted Park House. Probably placed here by Peter Du Cane
when he moved cottages from near Great Braxted Church to Bung Row and enclosed
the park. q.v. 1, 2 and 4/59.
