Large house, in use as offices. C18, refashioned in circa early C19 minor
alterations of the 1970s for office conversion. Colourwashed plaster, blocked out,
over cob and stone at ground floor level, stud at first floor level; slate roofs,
the main roof hipped behind a parapet; end stacks to main range.
L plan house, the front (south) block consisting of 2 principal heated rooms, one on
either side of an entrance hall. Behind the entrance hall a stair hall with an open
well stair is within the rear right (north east) service wing. A former coach
house, at right angles to the service wing gives an approximate overall U plan. C20
alterations include the conversion of the coach house to accommodation, some new
partitions in the main block and the blocking of some grates.
2 storeys. The south block has an asymmetrical 5 window front with regular
fenestration and a moulded cornice below the parapet. Tuscan porch slightly to left
of centre with a half glazed front door with a panelled soffit. A circa early C20
single-storey bay to the left of the porch has a moulded cornice and 6-light window
with small-pane transomed lights; to the right of the front door 2 ground floor 12-
pane sashes with eared architraves. 5 similar first floor windows, 3 to the left, 2
to the right with a section of blank wall to the right of the front door. The south
elevation of the former coach house has 3 large round-headed windows.
Interior: several features of interest, including a stick baluster open well stair
with a ramped handrail, lit by a Venetian window; chimney pieces; plaster cornices
and joinery. A 3-light casement on the landing between the principal stair and the
servants' stair has square leaded panes.
A gentleman's house with a good front elevation and interior features.
