House, c.1600 and c.1700, altered in C20. Timber framed, plastered, roof
thatched. 2 bays aligned approx. N-S, with central chimney stack, c.1600.
2-bay crosswing to S, structurally separate, with external chimney stack on
S wall, c.1700. Single-storey extension to S with catslide roof, single-store
weatherboarded extension to N with lean-to roof, and single-storey extensions
to E. Aspect W. 2 storeys. Plain boarded door and 3-window range of C20
casements. The interior of the northern part has jowled posts, curved bracing
trenched inside heavy studding, chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue stops,
and plain joists of horizontal section. In the upper rear wall there is a
blocked original window, probably of early glazed type. The roof is of clasped
purlin construction with curved wind braces. The ground floor hearth is large
rebuilt up to mantel level. The southern part has simpler framing, without
jowls, partly pegged and partly nailed, with a clasped purlin roof, rafters
pegged at the apices.
