Cottage. Late C18. Whitewashed rubble, slate roof with a clay ridge which is
gabled to the left, segmentally hipped to the light, off-ridge brick stack to left,
further brick stack set at the eaves level to the right rear corner, the right
corner is radiused.
Plan: No 45 altered to form a large single room on the ground floor with a gable
end stack. No 44 a small cottage formed in an outshut of No 45.
Exterior: 2 storeys, ground drops steeply away to the right and the rear forming a
basement. Main frontage facing south onto street of 3-window width, 16 and 20 pane
C18 sash windows, shallow reveals, exposed sash boxes, blocked window to centre of
frontage on the first floor. 2 door openings, a half-glazed door and a plank door,
pent-slated hoods. Further door opening to the basement level on the radiused
corner with a plank door. Lean-to to left return with a slate roof, stack with a
brick shaft. C19 lamp on a wrought iron bracket on the right corner. Rear elevation
in brick with 2-light C19 casements.
Interior: of No. 45 with fireplace with a wooden bressumer.
