House c.1660 restored recently (1984). Clear red brick with
some burnt brick to side walls. Steeply pitched tiled roofs
with repaired end parapets on moulded brick kneelers to
crosswing gables. End stacks to rear of crosswings. Half
H-plan. Two storeys and attics. Each gable end has a C20
casement above a brick band at eaves height carried over
segmental arch to first floor casements of each crosswing. The
tympanum of the arches is filled with yellow bricks. Doorway
off-centre and possibly leading to entry and stair bay at low
end of hall. Plain band between storeys. Yellow gault brick
arches to three C20 casements. Interior not seen. Possibly
associated with Dutch prisoners of war who were used in
construction of the New Bedford River and who remained at Over
after peace was concluded in 1654.
