Cottage, formerly a farmhouse. Circa early-C17. Rendered cob on stone plinth with
half-hipped thatch roof, and left-hand internal end-stack. 2 storeys; originally a
3-room, cross passage plan, with the kitchen on the left-hand side, higher rooms to
the right. The inner room (now the kitchen) has been much altered, and its front
obscured by the addition of a C20 thatched south wing. The original entrance now
blocked, but its position marked by a C20 window and flanked by Thorverton stone
buttresses. The present entrance lies to the right under a thatched porch. Former
kitchen and hall together have 4 windows above (3 with leaded panes) and 3 below,
to the front. Left-hand end fireplace with small oven, stone jamb, and chamfered
wooden lintel with run-out stops. Former hall with similar fireplace, no oven, and
with step stops. Beams throughout, chamfered with step stops. (First floor and
roof not inspected).
