3/19 Farm building, the southern of 2
parallel ranges c.100 metres

Farm building housing several functions under one roof (probably stables,
cowhouse, barn). C17, subsequently extended and altered. Handmade brick with
some stone quoins, steeply-pitched stone slate roof. Rectangular plan of
unusual length (c.75 metres), on east-west axis; short modern addition at east
end (not included in the item); on south side, next to this addition, a
doorway with long and short jambstones and large stone lintel undercut to make
a segmental head, a brick label over this, a modern window next to this door
and another above; beyond, 7 segmental-headed windows at ground floor and
another above in the centre (probably a stairlight), but no windows at the
west end. North side has several stable doors, 2 sliding doors in the centre,
a wagon door to the west end, and at 1st floor slit breathers on 2 levels and
2 square loading doors. West gable wall has short brick ledges evenly
distributed over the whole surface (purpose unknown), a loading door in the
gable and a blocked one immediately beneath. Interior not inspected but
straight windbracing to the roof visible in some parts. History: associated
with Bank Hall, q.v.
