Dated circa 1150. Originally a first-floor hall, altered in C16, and Cl8. Two-
storeys with attics. Rubble walls with Barnack stone dressings. Plain tile roof.
Ridge stack of handmade bricks. North gable wall of brick a surviving part of the
C18 house demolished after a fire. The south gable end at first-floor level has an
original two round-headed light window with a common chamfered sill, and a common
round-headed label carved with chevron ornament and pellets. In each head are three
projecting lobes. In the west and east walls towards the south wall two similar
original windows have been uncovered. The modern first-floor corner entrance and
external staircase are in an original position.
Interior: An original fireplace in the centre of the east wall has jambs with

replaced with most of the original stones. Chamfered ceiling beams and large central
chimney stack with hearths at both floor levels were inserted in C16. The present
owner is the writer Miss Lucy Boston.
