Vernacular Revival house built circa 1906 for the Ashley-Coopers. Designed by
Rev Oliphant of Houghton. Complex plan of two-storeys with three-storey gabled and
jettied wing to right hand. Red brick, rendered, and colour-washed brick. Thatched
gable roofs with deep eaves to east gable; thatched porch. Four red brick stacks,
one with three diagonal shafts, and one with two hexagonal shafts. One shaped roofed
dormer window to left hand. Casement windows. Interior rich in detail, large ingle-
nook hearths and galleried hall. Ironware designed for the house made by the local
blacksmith.
