Circa 1700. 3 storeys in painted brick with pantile roof and parapet with stone
coping. Lead rainwater head and pipe. 2 windows, near flush frame sashes
without glazing bars. 2 wood shop fronts. Good pedimented canopy to doorway on
boldly carved consoles, open pediment with rosettes in soffit. Door has upper
panels glazed. Behind No 18, but in the occupation of No 20 is a room wains-
cotted throughout with bolection panelling; two doors with three bolection
panels each; chimneypiece with marble surround and double bolection architrave.
In No 18 is one flight of a staircase with closed string, spiral twisted
balusters and moulded handrail: above it is a plaster modillioned ceiling
cornice, partly interrupted by modern partitions. At bottom of these stairs is
a recess with one deeply moulded bolection panel with ornamental carving,
possibly reused from Hotham House.
