Farmhouse. Exhibits no features earlier than C17 but may well have late medieval
origins. Probably extended in later C17 or early C18 with C19 and C20 additions.
Rendered cob walls. Gable ended: thatch roof. Brick stack at either end and
rendered rubble rear lateral stack with brick shaft.
Plan: at present 4-room plan but originally likely to have been 3-room-and-through-
passage plan as left-hand room was formerly used for storing cider and was probably
added in the later C17 or early C18. The position of the passage is now unclear.
Hall heated by lateral stack at the back, inner and lower rooms heated by gable end
stacks. C19 outshut added at rear (present entrance front) of left-hand side with
small C20 wing adjoining at centre.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 5-window front of mid C20 3-light casements
without glazing bars, apart from 1st floor window to right of centre which is a C19
light with arched head. C20 conservatory/porch at centre with glazed door. Rear
elevation (present entrance front to farmyard) has C19 outshut to right and hipped
roof small C20 wing at centre.
Interior: right-hand end room has open fireplace with roughly chamfered wooden
lintel. Rough axial ceiling beam.
The insubstantial feet of straight principals are visible on the first floor,
resting on the wall plates. Although the roof space was inaccessible at the time of
survey and there is no evidence of early timbers visible on the first floor it is
possible that earlier timbers survive in the roof space. Other early features are
likely to have been concealed by modernisation in the mid C20.
