House. 1820-30 for Robert Harrison, with later additions and alterations
including late C20 range to left of no special interest. Gault brick with
orange brick and ashlar dressings, Welsh slate roof. Double range plan.
Main block of 2 storeys, 5 bays with recessed 2-storey single-bay range to
left and further two C20 bays of no special interest. Ashlar plinth.
Central entrance a 6-fielded-panel door between margin lights below
segmental fanlight with decorative glazing under Ionic portico with paired
columns, paterae frieze, cornice and blocking course. Further entrance to
recessed left bay a part-glazed door and overlight with vertical glazing
bars under flat arch of gauged brick. 12-pane sashes with margin lights
throughout, all with ashlar sills and under flat arches of gauged orange
brick, those to ground floor within elliptically arched recesses, the arches
of rubbed orange brick. First-floor ashlar sill band. Overhanging eaves.
Hipped roof, side stacks. Garden facade: 2 storeys, 6 bays. Entrances to
second and sixth bays are part-glazed doors, that to second with blocked
overlight and in pilastered surround with frieze and modillion hood.
Entrance to sixth bay with overlight. First and fourth bays are bowed to
full height with curved sash windows, with decorative glazing, otherwise
casement windows, some with similar decorative glazing. All below flat
brick arches. Ornate cast-iron verandah. Interior. Modillion cornice to
entrance hall. 6-fielded-panel doors, some in moulded architraves. Some
marble fireplaces. Shutters to some windows.
