Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17. Timber framed with wattle and daub
infill and rendered infill and brick facing with a plain tile roof.
Two storeys. Entrance front: the whole of the front, save for the
plinth, is covered in pebble-dash, deep rendered plinth with a
projecting porch wing at centre which has a central C20 half-glazed
door at centre with a single light window to its left. To the first
floor is a 3-light casement window below which are two exposed
portions of timber framing inscribed RANDLE:RODE and below this
AN:DO/1684. To the attic above is a 3-light C19 attic casement window
with a moulded kingpost above. To left of this is a 3-light C19
casement window to the ground floor and at right a 2-light first floor
casement window. The right hand side has a 2-light casement window to
the basement, a 3-light casement window to the ground floor and attic
and a 2-light window to the first floor. The left-hand gable end has
a deep plinth supporting close studding with moulded middle rails to
both floors and a similar bressumer between the floors and to the
gable. Angle braces to left and right and some decorative framing to
the gable and first floor. C20 four-light casement windows to the
ground, first and attic floors.
Interior: Ingle-nook fireplace to one ground floor room with
chamfered bressumer and chamfered ceiling beams. One plank door. The
dining room has an ingle nook fireplace with ovolo moulded bressumer
and smoke hood. End-stopped ceiling beams with end-stopped rafters
between. Two plank doors. Staircase with moulded hand-rail and splat
balusters moulded on the slope.
