Parish church dedicated to St Nicholas. Norman font, late C15 west tower; Nave,
chancel, vestry and south porch rebuilt in 1878-81. Snecked local stone. Moulded
plinth and strings to west tower. Slate roofs.
Plan: West tower, nave, chancel, south porch and vestry. With the exception of the
circa late C15 west tower, the church was rebuilt in 1878-81, reusing some earlier
material.
Exterior: Small church with unbuttressed west tower of 2 stages. Tower has
crocketted finials, circa late C15 west door arch with granite basket arch, incised
spandrels and hood mould with C19 door; circa C16 2-light west window with round
headed lights and incised spandrels and 2-light belfry openings. 1, 2 and 3-light
lancet windows to nave and chancel, partly reusing circa late C13 tracery in chancel
and south wall of nave. C19 shouldered arch to vestry. Gabled south porch with 2-
centred inner and outer arches. Reset in east wall of porch is the top of a pierced
wheelhead cross.
Interior: Unplastered walls. C19 roofs with reused carved bosses in chancel.
Rounded chamfered granite tower arch on corbelled brackets. C19 furnishings and
pulpit. C19 brass lecturn. Piscina and holy water stoup possibly reused from
earlier church. Norman font; round bowl decorated with cable band, round shaft and
square base (illustrated by Sedding). The bells have been taken down from the bell
frame; 2 in floor of nave to Samuel Holman (1687) with marginal inscription.
Wesley preached at Tresmeer in 1745, 1748, 1750, 1751.
