Farmhouse. Late C16 with Early/Mid C19 additions and alterations.
Timber framed with painted wattle and daub infill to the C16 portion
and Flemish bond brick to the later portion. Slate roof to whole of
building. Two storeys. Entrance front: C16 wing to right, slightly
projecting with a sandstone plinth and 10 x 2 cells of small framing
to ground floor with angle braces at sides and a central. 4-light C19
casement window. Jettied first floor with moulded bressumer supported
by moulded consoles. Small framing to first floor of 10 x 3 cells
with angle braces. Jettied gable with brackets below and moulded
bressumer and decorative small framing with quatre-circles to the
corners of each cell. Blocked 4-light window to the centre. Raking
buttress to the right of this whole block. To left of this and
slightly recessed is the later addition which has vitrified headers.
Door at right with 6 raised and fielded panels and a moulded door-case
with an open pediment. Two bays of 3-light cambered headed casement
windows to ground floor left and similar to first floor with a
single-light similar window over the doorway, all with stone sills.
Rear: C20 walling to left at rear of C16 block. Projecting C19 wing
at right.
Interior: Ovolo moulded beams to parlour, end-stopped and supported
by wooden consoles. To the right of the fireplace is a C19 cheese
oven with double doors and two stones divided into quarters to the
bottom shelf. The first floor room of this C16 portion has ovolo
moulded ceiling beams and the same moulded consoles as appear
downstairs and on the entrance front.
