Granary. Circa mid C19. Timber frame, hung with rag slates. Slate roof with hipped
ends.
Plan: Rectangular plan granary raised on staddle stones.
Exterior: Single storey granary raised on 4 rows of 3 granite staddle stones of fine
construction with tapered piers and round tops. Metal bolts strengthen the piers and
are attached to the main frame at base. The granary is slate hung with rag slates in
diminishing courses, the slates at base being very large. There are 2 timber
louvered ventilation openings on the north and south sides with 2 similar openings
with adjustable louvers on the rear (east). The centrally placed door on the west
has a flight of granite steps and metal sheeting on the outer face of the door.
Interior: Inner face of walls lined with metal sheets and timber boarding. Timber
uprights with slots for horizontal dividing boards (now largely gone).
Roof Structure: 3 trusses of king post type construction with morticed and notched
joints of fine quality.
