Manor house, probably late C16; rear outshut probably later Cl7. Rubble with
cut dressings, the west elevation partly rendered; graduated stone slate
roof. H-plan; lower central wing and outshut on north.
South elevation: projecting gabled 2-storey + attic end bays flank 2-storey
2-bay centre. Centre part has renewed door in old chamfered surround on far
left, in C20 half-glazed porch. 4-light chamfered mullioned window on ground
floor right, single-light chamfered windows to far right and at 1st floor
centre; other windows C20 casements. Right-of-centre corniced ridge stack.
Left end bay has C2O casements except for 2-light mullioned window to attic;
right end bay has restored 3-light windows except for old blocked 2-light
attic window with straight label. All C20 casements are in C19 openings
re-using earlier chamfered jambs; remains of original mullioned windows to
each side. Moulded gable finials.
Left return shows large projecting stack, upper part rebuilt C20, and three
2-light windows, one blocked. 3-bay right return shows central half-glazed
door in chamfered surround, 2- and 3-light mullioned windows under moulded
labels and 2-light lst-floor windows, the central renewed.
Rear elevation: Central gabled wing shows old barred window and 2-light
window above. Right outshut with two small 2-light windows; massive stepped
lateral stack behind. Left boarded door, in C18 stone surround, to right of
shallow projection with remains of narrow transomed window.
Interior: Heavy transverse ceiling beams to ground and 1st floors, some on
corbels. Old winder stair at north end of west wing. Bedroom in wing has
bevelled oak cross set in ceiling. Principal-rafter roof trusses; 5-bay roof
of centre has re-used cruck blades as principals.
