Road bridge, 1773 for John Sawrey Morritt. Dressed stone except for some
rubble lower courses. Semicircular arch spans 23 metres and is flanked by
slightly-projecting giant piers. Embattled parapet, above chamfered band,
breaks forward over piers to form pedestrian refuges. Paired water-spouts
project from base of parapet at north and south ends of bridge. Merlons and
embrasures have chamfered coping. North-west section ends in low circular
pier with domed cap. Two circular emplacements at southern end of parapet
are said to be the bases of former toll-houses.
