Public house. C17, altered C19 and C20, the right bay possibly
C16- early C17. Timber framed with brick infill, the front
rebuilt in whitewashed brick. Gabled cross wing to left has whitewashed
roughcast with some half-timbering to front gable, and tile-hung
rear gable. Main part has C20 tile roof, right bay has old tile
roof. Later brick chimneys. L-plan, with cross wing at left end,
lower bay to right and C20 rear extensions. Main part is of 2 storeys,
right bay altered to single storey. 3½ bays in all, with half bay
between centre bay and cross wing. Irregular C20 barred wooden
casements, the centre bay with rectangular bay window. C20 door to
right of cross wing; C20 projecting porch to right of centre bay.
Tiled pent roof over ground floor openings. Interior reveals timber
framing with straight diagonal bracing in main bays and slightly curved
bracing in right bay. Chimney has probably been removed from half-bay.
Stop-chamfered spine beam in centre bay.
