Farmhouse, now house. Probably late C17 with later alterations including addition of
barn to rear, probably in C19, with few later alterations. Slatestone and granite
rubble, partly slate-hung. Asbestos slate roof with gable ends and gable end stacks
with slate weathering and shaped tops. The barn attached to rear has slate roof with
ridge tiles and gable ends.
Plan: 2-room plan, with off-centre to left entrance to passage; the room to left is
smaller, and heated by a gable end stack. The room to right has a gable end
projecting to front, with front gable end stack. To the rear of this room is a small
unheated scullery/dairy. Attached to the rear right is the barn, built into the bank
at the rear.
Exterior: 2 storeys, asymmetrical front; to left, the porch is set in the angle to
the front right gable end; this has a pitched roof, with 6-pane light to front, stone
bench inside and stable door with strap hinges. 3-light casement to left at ground
first floor; first floor level partly slate-hung. The gabled bay to right has stack,
with irregular masonry at the front, possibly an oven. The left end is blind, with a
small single storey C20 addition. Right end has 2-light casement at ground and first
floor to left, C20 2-light casement at ground floor to right. Straight joint to the
barn to right, with 2 ventilation slits at low level and upper loading door, small
single storey lean-to at end. At the left side, the barn has a ground floor doorway
with timber lintel and granite steps to an upper doorway to left. Between the barn
and the main range of the house, C20 window at ground and first floor, lighting the
scullery/dairy.
Interior: The front left room has roughly hewn and chamfered beams. Room to right
also has chamfered beams. Rest of house not accessible.
