Farmhouse. C18, remodelled circa early C19. Granite rubble with granite dressings.
Slurried scantle slate roof with brick chimneys over the gable ends. Right-hand
chimney is over a large external rubble chimney breast.
Plan: Double-depth plan: 2 rooms at the front (parlour on the left, kitchen on the
right) flanking an entrance hall leading to stair hall between former dairy (now
kitchen) on the left and back kitchen on the right. Circa early-C19 lean-to on the
left, later-C19 porch at the rear and wall with observation or ventilation slits
adjoining the rear left-hand corner.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3-window front with doorway and window
over, slightly left of middle. Original or circa early C19 doorway and window
openings. Circa early C19 6-panel door with top 4 panels later glazed. C19 wooden
porch with arched doorway to the front and quatrefoils in the frieze. Circa early
C19 16-pane hornless sashes except for C20 window over doorway and circa early-Cl9
12-pane sash to front of lean-to (on the left).
Rear is unaltered since the C19. Stair window has C18 upper light with thick glazing
bars.
Interior: Circa early C19 carpentry and joinery details including: dog-leg stair
with stick balusters and moulded handrail over a turned newel; a tall narrow settle
in the back kitchen and window shutters in the front rooms. Back kitchen has a furze
cupboard (partly blocked) and a blocked oven on the right of its fireplace.
