Farm building, including a stable which may have been used for living accommodation,
with a pigeon loft and an enclosed yard attached. Early C18 with later alterations.
Slatestone rubble, slate roof with gable ends and ridge tiles, some hand made crested
ridge tiles surviving.
Plan: The central stable building is of 2-room plan, with an open loft over, heated
by gable end brick stack to left, this may have been used as living accommodation.
Dovecote attached to the right. Attached to left, an enclosed yard about 6 metres by
10 metres. The yard appears to be of the same build as the stable.
Exterior: The front of the stable is of 2 storeys, with 2 doorways with cambered
arches, two 2-light casements at first floor. To the rear there is a central loading
door to loft level, and at ground floor 2 blocked and one open single light.
Dovecote attached to right at lower roof level with gable end. The gable end has
rows of square pigeon holes at upper level, doorway with cambered head below; the
rear of the dovecote has 4 rows of square pigeonholes.
The enclosed yard has walls with a parapet, ramped up to a central shouldered
pedimental feature over a round-arched doorway with circular bull's eye right and
left; walls ramped up at the corners. The rear is the same as the front, and at the
left side there are 4 bull's eyes and similar central pedimental feature. This is an
unusual architectural treatment of a farm yard.
