Farmhouse. Mid C19. Red brick with stone dressings and slate roofs with barge-
boarded overhanging eaves, brick ridge stacks and blue brick cogged eaves band.
Two storeys plus attics and two bays, L-plan. Chamfered plinth. Main front has
advanced bay to left with two storey, stone canted bay below hipped roof, each floor
with 4-pane sashes to front and 2-pane sashes to sides, bracketed sills and cornices
on paired foliage consoles. First floor windows with raised panels below. Above,
in the gable, is a star shaped window cut from a square stone block. To right bay,
there are 4-pane sashes in quoined chamfered surrounds with bracketed sills and
dripmoulds, on each floor. Similar windows to return walls. Entrance to right
return via an original glazed porch. Part of the home farm to Riddings House (qv),
the house of local iron founder, Oakes. Included for group value.
