Bathing house. Circa 1850, using C17 features. Slatestone rubble with granite
dressings. Tiled roof with tiles laid in scalloped banding, with crested ridge tiles
and gable ends with spike finials; rear lateral stack. Slatestone rubble quay.
Plan: Rectangular plan bathing house, built on a quay projecting into the river. The
one large room is heated from a rear lateral stack.
Exterior: Single storey, with symmetrical front; central gabled porch with
bargeboards, set on plain chamfered granite piers; inner granite 4-centred arched
doorway, chamfered and stopped with studded door. Small 2-light chamfered granite
window with casements to right and left with gabled dormer over; all gables with
spike finials. The left gable end has 3-light granite window with casements with
diamond leaded lights and chamfered granite mullions. The right gable end has large
4-light window with chamfered granite mullions and leaded lights; external sliding
shutters; small single light with triangular head in gable. The rear has external
stack with brick shaft.
Interior: 5-bay roof with principal rafters, collars and braces with trefoils in the
spandrels. Wooden frieze with quatrefoils; dado panelling. Fireplace in granite with
flat arch and roll moulding.
The quay is rectangular in plan, with battered slatestone rubble walls.
