Farmhouse. Spice cupboard door dated 1714, roof probably raised C19.
Rough cast stone rubble with slate roof. South elevation of 2 storeys and
3 bays. Central entrance plan. Ground floor has casement window to 1st
bay and small casement window to 3rd bay. 1st floor has sashed windows with
vertical glazing bars and horns. Lean-to outshut with entrance to left
originally an outhouse; 2 half-glazed doors. Gable-end stacks. Rear has
lean-to outshut and is built into slope of hill. 3 windows with small-paned
fixed glazing, one with opening light. Interior has spice cupboard with
ornament and initials: "N & AW/IW/1714" (Walker). Birthplace of Rev Robert
Walker (born 1710), for 67 years curate of Seathwaite, made famous by
Wordsworth as 'Wonderful Walker' in his Duddon sonnets.
