Wall, 2 gate piers, gate post and gate. c1846. For George Hudson's Great
North of England Railway. Rubble, ashlar, cast iron, timber. Boundary
wall, approximately 25 metres in length and 1½ metres high, in rubble with
rock-faced ashlar coping. Ashlar gate piers of square plan with plain
cornices and pyrmidal caps. Cast-iron gate post approximately 2 metres
high, with 5 rear projections for gate connections, with base on which post
swivelled. Semicircular cap with knob finial. Timber-framed gate, with 2
oblique struts and oblique tension rail above, and 4 cast-iron horizontal
rails. Gate partially collapsed at time of resurvey.
