9/81 Turn Farmhouse


GV II


Farmhouse. Probably C17. Timber-frame with plaster and brick infill
on sandstone rubble plinth. Shingled roof with central stack. Rectangular
three-bay plan aligned north/south. One storey and attic. East elevation
has 2:1 windows. Segmental headed raking top dormers with 2-light casements
to left and 3-light mid-C19 casement in gable to right. Ground floor has
another 3-light casement to gable. To its left are two ledged doors, a late
C20 top vent glazing bar window and a 2-light early C20 casement. Angle
struts from posts to wall-plate. Gable has V-struts above collar. Frame
has three square to rectangular panels from cill to wall-plate. Interior
inaccessible. (RCHM, Vol III, p 137).
