10/171 The Rectory
II
Former rectory, now detached house. Mid-late C17; c1842
additions; further later C19 additions. Random and coursed rubble
limestone, partially roughcast rendered; ashlar chimneys; stone
slate roof. Two-storey with attic range; lower L-plan section to
west. Various additions on south side. South front: main C17
range to right with 2 gabled wings, one towards centre with moulded
parapet gable has matching parapet gabled porch with Tudor arched
doorway, double moulded doors. Flat-roofed addition to left has
matching parapet; 2-light mullioned fenestration to this part,
single-light in gable. Larger late C19 gabled addition to right
with barge boards and large canted single-storey bay window having
mullioned and transomed casement and coped top; 3-light casement
above with hoodmould. Gable end of lower L-plan range to left
appears C19 alteration with reset C17 three-light recessed cavetto
mullioned ground floor casement with hoodmould. Remainder of
casements C19 with hoodmoulds. North side: main C17 range altered
early C19, with 3-window fenestration, all 12-pane sashes in plain
stone surrounds except tripartite sash to ground floor, right.
Central recessed doorway with C20 door. Parapet gabled ends to
this range with projectng end stacks, east with shafts removed.
Interior not inspected. Main range of house is recorded as being
rebuilt c1665.
