House. Possibly C15. Timber-framing with painted brick infill and tile roof.
T-plan. Two storeys. Cross-wing, at left, framed with close-studding rising
from the sill to the tie-beam. One bay, with the first floor window interrupting
the tie-beam. The visible principal post has a large jowl. The truss has a
collar and struts. The range to the right has irregular framing with three
intermediate principal posts, and large curved tension braces at each end.
There are three windows on the ground floor and two on the first floor. To
the right is an addition of painted stone. Chimneys to right of timber-framed
section and on left-hand wall of cross-wing. Interior: cross-wing has some
exposed framing and a re-set oak overmantel of c1600. The main range has some
chamfered and stopped main beams, partly replaced in C20, and the base of one
cruck truss. On the first floor the upper parts of two cruck trusses are
visible, ceiled at collar level.
