Farmhouse. C16 - C17. Timber-framed, partially bricked on ground floor,
painted brick and lath and plaster infill, dressed red sandstone bases to
external stacks, tiled roof. L-shaped with 2 large stacks; 1 to rear of
main range and 1 to west side of rear wing; main range of 4 bays with small
gabled forward projection to right of centre, entrance to left of gabled
forward extension; rear range projects by 1 bay. Main elevation of 2 storeys
and attic, 1 dormer window and 1 skylight to left of forward projecting gable
of 2 storeys; 4 C20 metal framed windows, 2 to first floor and 2 to ground
floor and one C19 tripartite wooden window with central Tudor arch and ogee-
headed side lights to ground floor of forward projecting gable. Plank door
left of centre through lean-to roofed porch supported by wooden posts; painted
partially bricked ground floor. East gable has painted brick ground floor, 3
windows, 1 small leaded casement in attic, C20 4-light window to first floor
3-light to ground floor. Rear gable has similar fenestration. Chimneys:
two large external stacks with heavy sandstone bases to eaves level with
brick shafts partly rebuilt; traces of former 2 conjoined star-shaped shafts
to stack at rear of main range. Framing;: main elevation, small panelling of
3 panels to each floor to left of entrance, remainder of 2 panels to each floor.
East gable end has 3 panels to eaves from mid-rail and V-strut. Rear gable is
complete with 3 panels to each floor; diagonal braces from sill to posts
across 2 panels.
