21/159 Adit portal of Barneycraig
Horse Level on east bank
of River West Allen

Lead mine adit portal, probably C18. Roughly squared rubble. Round-arched
tunnel. The actual portal has fallen but the arching survives intact from
4 metres back. Barneycraig Horse Level, working the rich Barneycraig Vein,
was driven c.1760 and continued in use throughout the C19.
