Bramdean House
GV II
Garden walls. Mid C18, gates c1900. Brick with stone coping to gate piers,
wrought iron gates. Originally walls formed 2 rectangular enclosed gardens
behind house with vista up centre, through gates to gazebo at top of garden.
Of lower garden only side wall from rear left, or W, corner of house remains,
running up hill to complete walls of upper garden. Walls are 3m high with brick
on edge copings. Rectangular gatepiers have brick entablature and stone vases.
Lower gate is c1900 imitation of C18 gate with rectangular overthrow and upper
gate is of lighter ironwork and probably from France.
