Cottage, stable block and gingang. Mid C19. Rubble with tooled-and-margined
dressings; stone slate roof to cottage, Lakeland slates on stables and Welsh
slates on gingang, brick ridge stack to cottage and flanking stacks on stables
and gingang. Stable T-plan with cottage adjoining north end of 2-storey
centrepiece; gingang adjoins west side of cottage.
South elevation 2+1+2 bays: 2-storey centre has boarded door with 4-pane sash
on right and 2 similar windows above; left part has 2 segmental arches with
later infill, one part-glazed, the other with boarded door and 2-pane
overlight; right part has stable door, 4-pane sash and segmental arch with
boarded double doors. Hipped roofs. Left return shows 2-bay cottage to left
with boarded door in alternating-block surround and 1st floor 6-pane sashes;
similar door in lower stable to right. Projecting central gingang has 6
rectangular piers and conical roof with finial.
Interior of stable shows old stalling; cast-iron posts with ball finials, tall
railed partitions and boarded stall divisions with swept top rail. Unusual
example of gingang used in preparation of meal rather than threshing of corn.
