House, part used as shop and part as guest house at left end of terrace.
Mid-late C18. Plastered walls; thatched roof, one brick stack at right end,
one right of centre, one at left end. Two storeys and attic. At left end,
on ground floor, a C18 shop front with moulded cornice. Pair of part glazed
doors in centre, with fanlight, flanked by 2 shop windows with glazing
bars. Near right end, doorway to guest house, recessed with panelled door
and moulded architraves. Also on ground floor, 3 sashes with glazing bars.
First floor has 4 similar sashes and one C20 metal casement. One inset
dormer in attic, with horizontally sliding sashes. On the left end wall a
projecting 2-storeyed bay with slightly curved sides, and lead flat roof.
Ground floor open, with timber Tuscan columns supporting the upper floor.
This comprises a bay window with sashes with glazing bars, the centre
section being a Venetian window, with cornice and frieze over. 2 terra
cotta plaques under window. Simple iron railings surround the bay, with
close set uprights. Internally, the first floor room at west end
(containing the bay window) has a shallow segmental ceiling, and some C18
panelling. Some C18 panelled doors (RCHM Monument 5. Dorset Vol III).
