Semi detached house, formerly east wing of Vicarage. c1600 origin, altered
and enlarged, probably in C18 and early C19. Originally timber framed,
clad in brick in C18, and walls raised in C19. Now, brick walls on rubble
stone base. Tiled roof, with stone eaves courses, brick end stacks. 3
storeys. Present entrance in east wall (garden front of original single
house). Part glazed door with sidelights under lean-to porch, on timber
posts. Also, pair of French doors. First and second floors each have 2
casements with glazing bars under segmental arches. In right end wall some
timber framing exposed. Attached to this wall, at lower level, a C19 single
storey block, of brick, with slate roof. One casement with glazing bars.
Right of this, site of further C19 range demolished c1970, - lower walls
survive as garden walls. Internally, ground floor room at south end has
moulded intersecting ceiling beams. Room north of this has deep chamfered
ceiling beams and large open fireplace - altered. Remains of timber framed
walling visible in north ground floor room. Garden boundary walls adjoining
Ilsington House (qv) of brick, with shaped copings. (RCHM Monument 4 Dorset
