House probably C17; rear wallrebuilt c.1800, remodelled with new front c.1850.
Outbuildings c.1850 incorporating some earlier fabric; south-west range a little
later. Rubble except for south-west range squared stone, tooled-and-margined
quoins and dressings. Graduated Lakeland slate roofs; one stack rebuilt in
brick.

South elevation: Each part has end pilasters and coped gabled with moulded
kneelers. House 2 storeys, 3 bays, symmetrical. Central porch with shaped
gable. Vertical-panelled door in moulded surround, with flat-pointed head and
chamfered loop over, flanked by sunk panels; 4-pane casement in left return.
Paired 12-pane sash windows in raised chamfered surrounds. Right end stack has
3 octagonal shafts with moulded caps; left end stack rebuilt on old base.
Left return shows earlier masonry and blocked chamfered window to 1st floor.
Outbuilding set back to left 1 storey, 2 bays. 4-pane sash to right; chamfered
loops. South-west range projects from left bay and has gable end with boarded,
door under stepped triangular head, and lancet above; stepped and banded ridge
stack. 2 part-slatted windows on left return. Left end of outbuilding has
window flanked by chamfered loops with lancet over.

Outbuilding range set back to right in 2 sections; left part 2 storeys, 3 bays,
symmetrical. Central boarded door under flat-pointed head, part-slatted windows.
Right part 1 storey 2 bays; similar door with small window on left. All
openings in raised chamfered surrounds.

Interior: house has axial wall (front wall of C17 building) 0.85 metre thick.
