II
Mill and house adjoining. Mill probably late C18/early C19, house
early/mid C19. Coursed, dressed and squared rubble stone, slate
roof, stone end stacks to house, that to right adjoining end stack
to mill. Mill of 2 storeys with large rear extension of late C20;
house of single storey and attic with projecting gable to rear.
Mill has large area of blind wall above first floor of 6 windows,
recessed paired 6-pane casements with flat stone voussoirs except
for second from left which has large stone lintel. Ground floor
has 2 similar to left and one to right of door in bay 3, all with
large stone lintels. Worn stone 4-centred archway with recessed
double studded doors. Three hipped dormers through eaves to rear,
with paired casements. South end has 9 stone steps up to C20 loft
door. House to left has 2 small coped gables with kneelers and
paired 6-pane casements. Ground floor has 3 wood mullion and
transoms with glazing bars. Coped gable ends. Mill race runs
below mill with original stonework in position, including side
stone chafed by mill wheel. Wheel removed.
