13/10 Blacksmith's Cottage

GV II

Formerly 3 cottages now one. Mid C17-early C18. Square-panelled
timber framing with rendered infill and coursed squared and dressed
limestone; left gable end rendered; right gable end partly
rebuilt in brick. Brick stacks, one on an ashlar stump; thatched
roof. Rectangular plan probably extended by one bay to the south.
C20 extensions to the rear and the left gable end not of special
interest. l½ storeys. Five 2-light steel casements with leaded
panes, one single-light casement to the ground floor of the
roadside front. Tudor-arched lintel to one casement suggesting it
may mark the position of a former doorway. Two-light metal
casement with horizontal glazing bars at the centre. Central 2-
light eyebrow dormer with horizontal glazing bars. Projecting
gable-end stacks and axial or possibly former gable-end stack. C20
two-light casement to the ground floor of the right gable end; two
small C19 casements to the upper floor. Two C20 two-light steel
casements to the left gable end. Entry now via C20 extension at
the south gable end. Interior not inspected.
