about 15m north of north door to
east of path, in churchyard of
Church of St. Mary the Virgin
GV II
Two chest tombs. To north, unidentified, mid/late C18; to south,
John Barnard 1796. Limestone. To north: flat top, moulded
plinth and capping on base. Sides have moulded rectangular panels
with flanking relief strips, ends have cartouches. Barnard:
nearly square with pyramidal cap, moulded plinth and capping,
fluted frieze with spiral astragal. Indented corners. Raised
ovals with draped leaf relief to 3 sides, west side has relief of
tree and pyramid with drapery. Partially overgrown at time of
survey (December 1985).
