north of north aisle in
churchyard of Church of St
Mary
GV II
(a) Circular pedestal tomb with scroll supporters. Late C18, limestone. Deep
moulded domed capping to moulded cornice over frieze with rosettes to east and
west deep scrolls to high relief cherubs' hearts, north and south raised panels
with decorative surrounds, on moulded base to platform shared with (b). Some
lettering remains on north and south sides, including John Loveday, 1805, to
north. South inscription, not legible, likely to have been earlier.
(b) Oblong pedestal with segmental ends. Mid C18. Flat table to moulded edge,
quarter balusters to corners. West end has high relief cherubs, east end
remnants of an inscription, north is plain sunk panel, and south a good cartou-
che, all on moulded base and platform shared with (a) and two other monuments
(not of special interest). Panel to east records John Loveday, 1873, but 1879
survey gives John Loveday, 1750: this appropriate to design.
