Large house. Dated 1834 on chimney shafts. Gault brick, some -red brick and
some stone. Concrete tiled roofs. Main block forms a cross wing with gable-
ends only slightly advanced in relation to double pile service wing. 2 storeys
with attics, and vaulted cellars. Main facade to north of 3 bays with pedi-
mented and slightly advanced central bay flanked by plain paired pilasters.
Sash windows with glazing bars beneath skewback arches. Stone porch with
pilasters and deep plain entablature. Narrow semicircular flanking windows
and 2-leaf panelled door. Moulded brick platband, moulded cornices and arms
in central pediment with motto "cor unum via una". Paired pilasters to angles
and to pedimented gable-ends. Rear wing of 3 bays of sashes with glazing bars
beneath skewback arches. Raised panels above first floor windows. South facade
in red brick with slightly advanced lateral bays with broken pediments forming
imposts of semicircular headed windows. Interior. Fine stone flying stair
with decorative cast iron balusters, lantern and plasterwork. Hall of 3 groin
vaulted, 3-centred bays. Fine Regency plasterwork throughout main rooms. One
late C19 fireplace with abstract geometrical motifs designed by Jekyll and
produced by Barnard, Bishop and Barnard (foundries) of Norwich.
