Parish church. Medieval and later. Flint with ashlar and some brick
dressings. Lead roofs. West tower; aisled nave with north porch; chancel.
C14 and C15 tower with angle buttresses. Ogee and wave-moulded west doorway
with a C19 3-light traceried window above. Relieving arches in flint and
stone to middle stage with rectangular loops below. 2-light Perpendicular
bell-openings with super-mullions and shallow heads. Post-Medieval brick
crenellated parapet. Aisles flank tower; west walls with a 2-light panel
traceried window to north and a post-Medieval 2-light Y-traceried window
to south. C15 2-storey north porch with stair turret to west. Arched entrance
with a 3-light window above with brick chamfered mullions. 2-light cusped
side windows. Kneeler finials of mutilated figures. C14 north doorway with
filletted rolls dying into plain jambs. 2 2-light panel-traceried north
windows and a similar 3-light eastern aisle window. Similar fenestration
to south aisle with a C14 doorway of dying filletted rolls. 6 C14 quatrefoil
clearstorey windows with a pair of late-Medieval 3-light additions to eastern
end. Former C14 roof-line visible on eastern face of tower. Chancel with
4 2-light panel traceried windows and opposing priests' doors (blocked to
south). C19 3-light reticulated east window. Octagonal kneeler turrets
to east gable. Interior. C14 4-bay nave arcades of 2 hollow-chamfered
orders on octagonal piers. Similar chancel arch. Tower arch partially
blocked. Cusped piscina in south aisle beside a Medieval altar slab. C15
moulded and arch braced aisle roofs. Chancel with plain arched piscina.
C14 octagonal font with C17 crown cover. 3 fine wall monuments.
