Clifton Castle)

Stables. c1800. Rubblestone and ashlar with graduated stone slate and
machine-tile roofs. Main south wing with parallel wing to north connected
by wall on east. South front has central 2-storey, 3-bay block with
1-storey, 1-bay wings; to left a 1-storey, 3-bay block running south/north;
to right a pavilion running south/north. Central block: ground floor:
stable doors with fanlight with radial glazing bars set in semicircular-
arched openings. First floor: band; central clock flanked by 15-pane
unequally-hung sashes; hipped roof with octagonal cupola with Doric columns,
frieze, cornice, and hemispherical roof with weather vane; end stack to
right. 1-bay wings have stable doors similar to central block. 3-bay block
to left has enlarged semicircular-arched openings with impost band.
Pavilion to right has round-arched casement window set in larger relieving
arch, impost band, machine tile roof. Roofs hipped.
