3/18 Leeming Bar Station

GV II

Station. 1848. Possibly by G T Andrews, built for the Leeds and Thirsk
Railway. Red brick, Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 4 bays, right bay breaks
forward. To left a 2-bay, 1-storey wing, the former waiting room. Main
block: to bay 3 a 6-panel door and overlight below cambered brick arch. All
windows have sashes with glazing bars, continuous stone sill bands, and
cambered brick arches. Those to first floor are smaller. Oversailing
eaves, hipped roofs, end stacks. Left wing: to centre a 6-panel door with
overlight below cambered brick arch. To right a sash with glazing bars
below cambered brick arch. To left a C20 canted bay with casements. Hipped
roof, ridge stack. To left return a 2-bay Doric porch with frieze, cornice
and blocking course, now with later blocking.
